Our Mission

“To rescue and rehabilitate horses while providing healing, educational, and therapeutic

experiences for children who are sick, displaced, abused, neglected, or facing life

challenges.”

Our Vision

To become Southern California’s premier equine-assisted healing sanctuary — where

rescued horses and vulnerable children heal together.

Our Programs

01 · Rescue & Rehabilitation We partner with established equine rescue organizations —

including Red Bucket Equine Rescue and Return to Freedom — to identify senior, neglected,

and abandoned horses unsuitable for riding but ideally suited for therapeutic work.

Rehabilitation comes first; healing work follows once a horse is ready.

02 · Healing Days at Villa Amodei Our monthly signature program brings children to the

farm for grooming, feeding, art therapy, nature walks, gardening, and mindfulness activities

alongside our horses. Every child leaves with a gift bag, photos, and a certificate to mark

the day.

03 · Hope Through Horses Designed specifically for foster children, shelter kids, children

battling illness, those recovering from trauma, or families affected by domestic violence.

This program builds confidence and resilience through structured, guided time with our

horses.

04 · Family Healing Days Held quarterly, these events bring whole families together for

picnics, horse interaction, family photography, wellness workshops, and parenting support

resources — because healing a child often means supporting the whole family around them.Our team is made up of licensed therapists, social workers, and other mental health professionals who are passionate about supporting mental health and wellness in our community.

Does my child need horse experience to participate?

Not at all. Most of the children we

work with have never been near a horse before their first visit.

Who can be referred to your programs?

Children who are sick, displaced, abused,

neglected, or facing significant life challenges — including foster children, shelter kids, and

families affected by domestic violence. Referrals typically come through schools, therapists,

social workers, and community partners.

How is Villa Amodei different from other equine therapy programs?

Our horses aren’t

just therapy animals — they’re rescues themselves. Every horse in our care was senior,

injured, neglected, or otherwise out of options before coming to Villa Amodei. That “dual

rescue” model — healing children and horses side by side — is central to who we are.
